Nottingham's Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall close following coronavirus advice

Nottingham's Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall will close for the next four weeks following coronavirus advice.

All shows over the next four weeks have been cancelled after last night's Covid-19 briefing from the Government (Monday, March 16), stipulated people should avoid public buildings, including theatres, to help slow the spread of coronavirus.

Both venues will be closed until Sunday, April 12.

Ticket holders for performances during this period will be contacted directly by the box office team and offered a full refund.

These ticket holders will not need to contact the venues directly.

Due to the number of performances involved a spokesman for the venue has advised it may take some time to process these refund transactions, or to respond to other enquiries. Customers are asked to to bear with the venue at this time.

Peter Ireson, venue director for the Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall, said: “The health and wellbeing of our customers, visiting companies and staff is our top priority so, in light of the government’s latest advice, this was a tough but clear decision for us to make.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank our audiences for their patience and understanding and to thank them for the many kind-hearted messages of support we have received over recent days.

"I am also extremely grateful for the extraordinary level of commitment shown by our dedicated team of staff throughout this very challenging period.

"Over the coming weeks we will continue to closely follow Public Health England and the government’s recommendations, and hope to be able to welcome audiences back to both our venues in the near future.”
