Nottingham's Robin Hood Half Marathon celebrates 40 years - and entries are open for 2020 event

Entries are now open for the 40th Robin Hood Marathon returning to Nottingham in September 2020.

Robin Hood runners took to the streets for the first time n 1981 and since then the event has become a firm favourite in the race calendar for thousands across the country.

In the past decade more than 100,000 runners have laced up, taken to the 13.1 mile course and proudly collected their finishers’ medal.

Following runner feedback, a two-tier race entry structure will be offered; one for those runners who would like a 40 anniversary commemorative finisher’s t-shirt and a goody bag from £35.95, and an alternative option for those just wanting their race medal from £29.95.

Race director of seven years and founder of Goldline Events, Judith Manson said: “We can’t wait to reveal the plans and festivities in store for our anniversary event. We are so proud of all that we have achieved with this city event and the impact it has had, not only on the local community in Nottingham but the thousands across the UK – it’s just incredible.

"We want to send our thanks to all partners, sponsors, volunteers and runners that have made this event possible over the years.

“2020 really is a big year for the race calendar, as we are in good company with the London Marathon also celebrating their 40.

"Rally your friends, family and colleagues and make 2020 a year to remember – join us in September and make the Robin Hood weekend your Autumn challenge. We’ll see you at the start line.”

Millions of pounds have been raised for national and local charities over the years.

In the past decade, the event has helped to raise more than £3 million for the work of organisations such as Cancer Research UK, NSPCC, ABF The Soldier’s Charity, Forever Stars, Stroke Association and Nottingham Hospitals Charity.

The race events will take place over the weekend Saturday and Sunday September 26/27 2020.
