Nottingham's hospitals stand down from critical incident

Nottingham's hospitals are no longer facing a critical incident.

The hospital has announced that it has lowered its OPEL 4, formerly black alert, and has returned to "business as usual".

On Wednesday, November 6, the hospital said it was facing extreme pressures due to a high number of poorly patients using the service.

On Thursday a statement from the hospital said: "Thanks to the efforts of our staff and partners across the system yesterday and overnight we are back to business as usual this morning.

"Capacity and flow out of our Emergency Department have been our biggest challenges and we put in place a number of actions yesterday that helped discharge patients, create capacity and as a result improve flow out of ED.

"We will continue with a number of these actions today and tomorrow to ensure that we have enough capacity going into the weekend.”

Patients have been advised to think carefully about which treatment they need before going to A&E.
