Nottingham's biggest ever vegan festival is happening later this month

Thousands of people are expected to attend Nottingham's biggest vegan festival later this month.

The event will have more than 100 stalls at Nottingham Conference Centre, in Burton Street, including food, clothing and animal welfare rights information stands.

Other highlights, on Saturday April 27, include workshops, cookery demonstrations, talks, films and music.

Local stalls include The V Spot, from Sherwood, that sells a wide range of products including vegan alternatives to cheese, milk, eggs and meat, homemade cakes, sandwiches and sausage rolls, snacks, chocolates, sweets and whole foods.

Cruelty-free cosmetics and toiletries, environmentally friendly household products and non-leather shoes, belts and bags will also be on sale.

There’s everything to tickle your taste buds from the latest gourmet vegan 'cheezes', indulgent creamy chocolates to some naughty vegan kebabs, and everything in between.

Visitors can try before they buy and sample foods that are so new they haven’t even hit the shops yet and explore how to bathe vegan with a range of deliciously scented soaps and handmade bath bombs from brands like Iuvo Skincare.

And if you’re feeling stressed, chill out in a relaxing yoga session.

There’s something for everyone – with lots of children’s activities and entertainment to amuse the little ones. And teenagers into the latest trends should check out cool designer vegan labels such the range of Viva La Vegan hoodies and T-shirts.

A range of gifts and goodies includes candles, jewellery, and even treats for animals. It’s also a great place to shop if you’re looking to go plastic-free.

For anyone looking to delve further into veganism there will be talks on nutrition and the vegan lifestyle as well as some inspiring, fun cookery demos.

The Nottingham Vegan Festival takes from 10.30am to 4.30pm. Any surplus food at the end of the event will be donated to homeless people.

Organiser, Victoria Bryceson, who runs events in partnership with animal welfare charity, Miracle's Mission, said: "I’m really looking forward to our exciting new festival this year. It’s set to be even bigger and better than last year’s. We received so much positive feedback last year and there’s now so much demand that this festival is becoming a regular sell-out event.

"I think it’s partly because people really love the friendly atmosphere. And also because it’s one of the best places to network and meet others who are vegan-curious too.

"The wonderful thing about the festival is that it’s for everyone whatever your lifestyle. Just come along and bring your friends for a great, fun weekend or day-out. You’ll have everything you need there, whether you’re looking for some retail-therapy, some ‘me’ time, precious family time or just a lovely meal out with some friends.”

Tickets are £3 on the door (under 16s free) or £15 in advance  (including fast track entry and a goody bag full of products and discounts) from eventbrite.co.uk
