Nottingham Robin Hood Beer and Cider Festival - organisers reveal what's new for 2019

Tickets for this year's Nottingham Robin Hood Beer and Cider Festival go on sale this Saturday (June 1) and to whet punters' appetites organisers have revealed a bevy of new additions for 2019.

Back at the Motorpoint Arena for a second year, the four-day booze-up will run from October 9-12, and for the first time includes rum on the bar as well as tutored tasting sessions of beer, cider with cheeses and chocolate.

There will also be a new national CAMRA Learning and Discovery stand in attendance where visitors can learn about the brewing and cider making processes.

Making a return will be more than a thousand different casks of real ales (the largest selection of any festival in the world), the craft beer bar, cider barn and gin bar.

Promising a bigger and better event than ever before, organisers Nottingham CAMRA say there will be more live music across the two outdoor stages alongside an even greater selection of world street food offerings.

It's a welcome return to the arena according to Nottingham CAMRA chairman Steve Westby, who says there were some concerns about the venue change last year.

He says: “Many of our customers were sceptical about our enforced move away from Nottingham Castle last year and expressed concerns how this immensely popular annual event could work in what they saw as an indoor location like the arena.

"But their fears were proved groundless when they discovered that the festival was not only in the main arena but also over two large outdoor areas: The Backstage Beer Garden, with brewery bars, food and live music; and the Bolero Square village which also offers bars, stalls and live music.

"Many said it was the best festival yet. This year we plan to build on that and make it bigger and better than ever.”

Indeed a poll conducted by Nottinghamshire Live at last year's event resulted in 85 percent of punters giving the new venue a thumbs up as a temporary alternative to Nottingham Castle while mult-million pound renovations take place.

Tickets for the 2019 Nottingham CAMRA Robin Hood Beer & Cider Festival go on sale on June 1 at 9am priced between £10.80 and £21.60 from beerfestival.nottinghamcamra.org or at the Tourism Centre off Old Market Square.
