Nottingham road closed after flash floods

Flash floods yesterday afternoon (July 25) closed a main road in Nottingham.

Inclement weather caused problems on Alfreton Road in the afternoon.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue crews attended the scene and cordoned the road, while blocking it to traffic.

The service tweeted about the incident from its official account

The announcement read:"London Road attended a property flooded on Alfreton Road in Nottingham. Due to the nature of the incident, this area of Alfreton road is closed."

The road has since reopened.

Nottingham experienced heavy rainfall and thunderstorms yesterday as as the humid weather the city had been living with came to a close.

Heavy rain battered the city from around 4pm. The forecast however looks brighter for the rest of the week.
