Plans for more student accommodation in Nottingham city centre have been met with disagreement by some residents who think there is "far too much" already.
The application, by CBP Architects, is pending consideration for four three bed HMO's in a five storey building at Canning Circus, off Talbot Street.
If given the go ahead by planning officials, the Canning Chambers site would be partially demolished to create two dwellings and then converted with a four storey extension for student accommodation.
The surrounding area already has six student accommodation buildings and proposed plans for another.
These developments have caused frustration for some nearby residents who think there is too much in a small vicinity.
Nina Kemp, 50, who lives in the Park., thinks the building shouldn't become student accommodation.
She said: "It would be nice to not have anymore - I'm pretty done with it.
"There is a lot of mess since the students have come back.
"It is a shame.
"The building itself is a but scruffy and it isn't very attractive.
"The area is getting a bit overtaken - there a quite a lot of students in the Park."
Matia Urrutia, 30, from the city centre, thinks the building is out of place.
He said: "It's more to do with personal opinion, but the building, especially the front, needs to be changed.
"There is too much accommodation in this part - the building looks out of place."
Catalina Sepulbeda, 30, agreed that it isn't a good idea.
She added: "There is a lot, it's too much.
"I don't think it is a good idea, there is already so much down the street.
"I think it should remain shops and some flats."
The application was received on Monday November 15 with a determination deadline of Monday January 10, 2022.
But Martin Jacob, 67, retired, thinks the accommodation will fit in with the other developments.
He said: “Five storey building won’t be out of place here.
“The building needs to be used for something, so why not accommodation.
“It’s not a nice looking building, so demolishing it is a good idea.
“I don’t mind it being student accommodation - I think it’s a good idea.”
