Nottingham reacts as Tier 3 restrictions to continue across the county

People in Nottingham admitted they were not surprised as it was confirmed the county would remain under Tier 3 restrictions.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock revealed the news to MPs during a statement in the House of Commons, after a review of the current Tiering system took place.

It means pubs, bars and restaurants will be unable to reopen their doors this Christmas as Nottingham and Nottinghamshire will be subjected to the toughest restrictions.

Posting on the Nottinghamshire Live Facebook page, Heather Crimmins said: "What would be the point of going down to Tier 2 when Christmas mixing would send us straight back into Tier 3? They want us as isolated as possible before the temporary relaxation to lessen infection rates."

Adam Billy Keane said: "We deserve this, blame the party-goers, the protesters, everyone who went to the Christmas market and other rule-breakers."

Clare Susannah said: "It’s the right thing to do although I’ll miss being able to eat out and see friends."

Laura Loo said: "If you don’t have an immediate need to share your Christmas with anyone then please don’t. Be sensible, use the technology to connect with loved ones wherever possible and keep yourself and those most dear to you safe. No need to be confused: common sense!

"Stop blaming the government and act like responsible adults."

Peter Higginson said: "Did we really expect anything different?"

Karen Jackson said: "Everyone should have been in Tier 3 to start with until the New Year."
