Nottingham public health boss on what to do if you can't get a lateral flow test delivery slot

Nottingham's public health director has shared her advice on what you can do if all delivery slots for lateral flow tests are taken.

It is typically a simple process to order a bunch of lateral flow test (LFT) kits on the Government website, but a recent spike in infections due to the Omicron variant has led to many delivery slots being taken up.

This leads to a message on the website which reads: "Sorry, there are no home delivery slots left for these tests right now."

A negative LFT is now also required for entry into some venues and events as it proves you may not be infectious at the time you took the test.

They require the user to swab their nose before mixing it with a solution to reveal a result, but many health professionals have advised users to swab their throats too in a bid to make them more effective and accurate.

Those with symptoms however are urged to book a PCR test online.

Lucy Hubber, the city's public health director, shared her advice for what people can do if they cannot order an LFT kit online.

She said: "Nottingham city libraries have supplies, as well as our rapid test sites. Pharmacies are having deliveries all the time."

Nottingham City Council also says testing units are open at the Hyson Green Community Centre from Tuesday to Friday between 8am and 4pm, Southchurch Drive in Clifton and the Harvey Hadden Sports Village on Wednesday as well as Sneinton Market on Friday.
