Nottingham pub will remain closed until next month for improvements

One of Nottingham's best loved pubs has yet to reopen after lockdown restrictions were lifted - but there's no need to panic.

All is well at the Hand and Heart, the cosy pub built into the caves, in Derby Road, full of character and charm and famed for its Sunday roasts and extensive range of whiskeys.

The pub closed on March 19 - the day before Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that all pubs, bars and restaurants had to close to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Accessibility improvements are being carried out inside and Covid-secure measures are being put in place to keep staff and customers safe.

Owner Dawn Underdown, who bought the almost derelict pub in 2008 and gave it a new lease of life, said: "For now we are still closed, but we've been busily preparing and making space to enjoy a roast and a tipple knowing all precautions have been put in place to feel safe and relaxed.

"We've got new hand painted signs on the way, and have taken this time to make improvements to our accessibility too.

"We're hoping to be back open in mid August but will announce an opening date and booking information soon. Thanks to all for the messages of support and we look forward to seeing you soon."
