Nottingham pub is saved from demolition and will continue to serve its community

A Nottingham pub has been sold following a "tremendous" amount of interest from investors and developers.

But the future looks rosy for community pub, The Rose in Strelley, as it appears it will remain a pub rather than be redeveloped as new housing.

The pub, located at the junction of Moor Road and Strelley Road, was sold by licensed and leisure property specialists Everard Cole.

The "substantial" pub still boasts the original rooms and snugs - a bar, lounge bar, middle bar and public bar - as when it was built on the site of former cowsheds in the 1950s.

Once a Home Ales pub, the boozer was run by Greene King until its closure.

The property has been acquired by a local investment company who, according to Everard Cole, intends to continue operating it as a pub.

Everard Cole director Jon Heald: “The sale of the pub generated a tremendous amount of interest from operators and developers alike and we received numerous offers.

"The Rose is a large detached pub that has served the local community for many years and we hope will continue to do so for many more years to come. We wish the new owners all the very best for the future.”
