Nottingham people who can receive free milk, fruit and veg

Families across the city may be eligible to get food vouchers and save up on their groceries shopping amid rising costs of living. People who are pregnant or have a child under the age of four can claim them - but only 70 per cent of the eligible families in Nottingham are getting them.

Families who claim the vouchers may buy essential items including milk, fruit and vegetable. The free 'Healthy Start' vouchers are worth £4.25 a week if the child is over one-year-old, or £8.50 a week if they’re under.

Up to 30 per cent of the families who are eligible are missing out on the vouchers, it has been reported. People can get them if they receive:

  • Child Tax Credit (family’s annual income is £16,190 or less)
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Pension Credit
  • Universal Credit (family’s take-home pay is £408 or less per month from employment)
