Nottingham Outfit store will close by the end of this month as retailer enters administration

The Outfit store in Nottingham will be permanently closed by the end of this month, it has been confirmed.

The large store, which is currently located in Unit E at Riverside Retail Park, is one of 21 nationwide which will shut its doors for good.

A spokesperson for Arcadia Group, which owns Outfit, confirmed the news to Nottinghamshire Live today, Wednesday, January 20.

The group declined to comment any further on the closure.

Sir Philip Green’s Arcadia retail empire entered administration at the start of December as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Outfit, which was acquired by Arcadia from Sears in 1999, is not a fashion brand itself but sells all of Arcadia’s retail brands in out-of-town destinations for shoppers.

Brands formerly available for shoppers at the Nottingham store included Dorothy Perkins, Topman, Topshop, Burton and Miss Selfridge.

Administrators Deloitte are expected to receive bids worth more than £200 million in the process, which could be completed by the end of the month.

Next is among retail groups to have placed bids to take control of the retail empire.

It faces competition from high street rival JD Sports, which has held talks over a joint bid with US retail giant Authentic Brands.

Administrators Deloitte have been approached for further comment.
