As smear tests hit a six year low, one Nottingham nursery is trying to make attending appointments as easy as possible for mums by providing free childcare.
Little Toes Day Nursery, in West Bridgford and Clifton, are offering one-off, one hour sessions completely free of charge to help busy parents make the potentially life-saving screenings.
Nursery co-owners and managers Rachael Buxton and Jenna Phillipson say they want to help "bridge the gap" so mums aren't missing these appointments. With limited staff and space they are hoping it will become a community effort.
"We are hoping other settings and people will help out," says Rachael.
More than 70,000 women in Nottinghamshire missed smear tests last year with embarrassment and fear often cited as reasons.
Mums looking to take advantage of Rachael and Jenna's offer can do so discreetly via email or over the phone if more comfortable.
"We've had people say what a good it is and now we just want women to feel they can come forward," says Rachael.
