Nottingham MP Lilian Greenwood cancels meetings after speaking at bus conference which coronavirus victim attended

Nottingham South MP Lilian Greenwood has confirmed she was at a summit earlier this month where one of Britain's nine confirmed coronavirus cases was also present.

The person identified was at the UK Bus Summit in London last week, near Parliament.

Around 250 people are thought to have been there.

The Labour MP, who tweeted a picture of a letter she received from Public Health England informing her of the news, said she was feeling 'completely well'.

"This morning I received this advice from Public Health England," she said.

"I’m feeling completely well but to be extra-cautious I’m cancelling my public engagements until 20th February. Sorry for any inconvenience."

The letter read: "While the degree of contact you may have had with the case at the summit is unlikely to have been significant, we are taking a precautionary approach and informing you."

Health bosses advised the attendees to stay indoors and avoid contact with other people, like normal flu.

They were also told to ring 111 to inform them they'd been in contact with the confirmed case.

"Please follow this advice until 20th February, even if your symptoms are minor," the letter read.

In total, nine people in the UK have been diagnosed with the virus.

According to wider figures, more than 1,300 people are known to have died from the virus, the majority in China.

Meanwhile, a Nottinghamshire man is among thousands who have been quarantined on a cruise ship in Japan following the outbreak of the virus.
