Nottingham man jailed after he was caught with knife following argument in Pryzm nightclub

A Clifton man has been put behind bars for carrying a knife after he failed to take his second chance when he was given a suspended sentence.

Police were called to Pryzm nightclub, in Lower Parliament Street, Nottingham city centre, in the early hours of July 27 in 2019, following reports that Adam Kirby and another man had an argument.

The 27-year-old, of Raleigh Close, Clifton, began shouting and swearing at officers so he was arrested for being drunk and disorderly.

When he arrived in custody he was searched and a small knife was found. This led to an additional charge of being in possession of a bladed article.

Kirby, who was previously given a suspended sentence for criminal damage in 2018, appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday (June 23) and was sentenced to 12 months prison for one single charge of knife possession, and an additional four months for breaching his suspended sentence.

Louise Palfrey, of Nottinghamshire Police said: “Kirby’s actions were senseless and had we not intervened someone could have ended up seriously hurt.

“The courts gave Kirby a second chance last time around when he was charged with criminal damage but sadly he failed to learn his lesson and continued his criminal behaviour – and this time the judge decided enough is enough.

“I’m glad to see he has been punished for his actions and I hope this serves as a reminder that if you are caught with a bladed weapon you will face serious consequences.”
