Nottingham Light Night festival extended to two days for 2020

Last year, crowds ignored the wet weather and queued to catch a glimpse of Light Night's feature attraction - an installation of the moon.

Measuring seven-metres in diameter, the sculpture featured detailed NASA imagery and was part of the festival's moon landing theme, dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Neil Armstrong's steps on the lunar surface.

This year the theme is 'Life on Earth' and while the schedule of activities and attractions has yet to be revealed - it has been confirmed there will be double the free fun as Light Night extends to two days for 2020.

Taking place on Friday, February 7 to Saturday, February 8, the streets of Nottingham city centre will once again come alive with the work of various artists including an innovative Augmented Reality Trail by Jason Wilsher-Mills. Visitors will be able to use their mobile phone to bring the pieces to life with a brand-new app.

In partnership with It's In Nottingham, the city will be showered with parades, light sculptures, breath performances, a large-scale projected installation on the Council House (from the artists MBD) and plenty more yet to be confirmed.

This event is supported by public funding from the National Lottery through Arts Council England, Nottingham City Council and Nottingham BID.
