Nottingham in Tier 3 lockdown - here are the restrictions you need to know

The Government has confirmed that Nottingham will face Tier 3 restrictions from next week.

The whole county will see the same restrictions when the national lockdown ends on December 2, despite falling coronavirus rates in Nottingham city.

Council leader David Mellen said yesterday it would be ‘unreasonable’ for Nottingham to be placed in Tier 3 when its rates are way below the national average.

He said in a letter: "While we will never be complacent about the ongoing threat of this virus, we are now below the national average because everyone has pulled together, followed the rules and looked out for each other.

“We feel that people in Nottingham have worked hard to bring down the rate of Covid-19 in our communities and among our older population – and we feel our position in the tier system should reflect this."

Under Tier 3 rules, bars, pubs, cafes and restaurants must close but can operate with takeaway, delivery or click and collect.

Hotels, B&Bs and campsites must close as well as indoor entertainment venues like play centres, bowling alleys, cinemas, theatres and casinos.

Indoor attractions such as zoos, safari parks and museums must close.

Leisure facilities can stay open but group exercise classes cannot go ahead.

Weddings and funerals can go ahead with 15 guests at wedding ceremonies and 30 people at funeral ceremonies.

You should avoid travelling to other parts of the UK except where necessary.
