Crowds of shoppers have taken to Nottingham city centre streets on the first day after Tier 3 for Christmas was confirmed.
All of Nottinghamshire will remain in Tier 3 restrictions throughout the Christmas period.
The guidance, brought in to contain the spread of Covid-19, means households across the city and county are unable to mix indoors or in some outdoor settings.
Residents can meet up outdoors in groups of no more than six, but must adhere to the 'Hands, Face, Space' advice at all times.
The rules mean pubs, bars and restaurants must also remain closed, unless for takeaway service, while other venues like bowling alleys and soft play centres remain shut, too.
But all shops can remain open and busy scenes were photographed outside the Victoria Centre, Clumber Street and Long Row on December 18.
Restrictions are set to be relaxed for a five-day window between December 23 and December 27 to allow families to form 'Christmas bubbles' among three households.
However, from December 28 the usual Tier 3 measures will come back into force.
Reviews will continue every two weeks, so there will be another on December 30 and then a third on January 13.
Nottinghamshire recorded 337 new coronavirus cases on December 17, according to the latest Government data.
Of these, 92 cases were recorded in the city and 245 were recorded across the wider county.
In Nottingham city there have now been 18,213 cases since the start of the pandemic, while there have been 26,428 in the county.
