Nottingham hospitals confirm more deaths of coronavirus patients

Another eight patients who tested positive for coronavirus have died at Nottingham's hospitals.

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs City Hospital and Queen's Medical Centre, confirmed the news on Monday, April 20.

The patients were aged between 68 and 86 and died between April 17 to 19.

It takes the total number of deaths across Nottingham's two hospitals to 144.

Dr Keith Girling, Medical Director at Nottingham University Hospitals, said: “Sadly we can confirm that a further eight patients have died having tested positive for COVID-19.

"Regrettably that means that 144 COVID-19 positive patients we were caring for have sadly died since the beginning of March.

“The patients were aged between 68 and 86, and died between the 17 and 19 of April.

“The families have been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time.”

Public Health England data has shown a surge in positive coronavirus cases across Nottinghamshire's hospitals.

The data, accurate to 5pm on Saturday, April 18, shows that a further 33 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Nottingham's hospitals, with 385 positive cases in total.
