Nottingham High School praised for 'nurturing' community where pupils 'flourish'

A private school in Nottingham has received 'excellent' praise for its pupil results and staff dedication.

Nottingham High School’s ISI (Independent School Inspectorate) report has been published following the inspection in October.

It was awarded the highest rating of 'excellent'.

It documents the school’s performance and compliance with independent school regulations.

Nottingham High Infant and Junior School pupils were described as having "outstanding attitudes to learning".

The report said: “Pupils’ social development is exceptional; they collaborate well and are most supportive of each other.

"[Their] behaviour is exemplary; they have a strong sense of fairness and fully support the school’s ethos and high behavioural expectations set by their teachers.”

Clare Bruce, head of Nottingham High Infant and Junior School, said: “We are so pleased to be recognised for our children’s excellent academic progress.

"I am also very proud that the report highlights the children’s personal development, their love of learning and the encouragement and support that they receive from their teachers.

“We are so lucky in our school to have such dedicated staff and to be able to keep our class sizes small, ensuring that we meet our aims of valuing and nurturing every individual pupil.”

Within the Senior School there was an equally positive report.

Inspectors highlighted GCSE and A-Level results being well above the national average with pupils achieving "across a range of subjects".

The report added pupils were able to develop skills outside the classroom through a wide variety of clubs and activities.

It said: “Pupils flourish as part of a community which actively nurtures them and shapes their well-rounded development.

"Supported by strong leadership and the provision of excellent resources, pupils develop self-confidence, emotional resilience and independence, fulfilling the school’s ambitious aims.”

Headmaster Kevin Fear said: “We were thrilled with the result of our inspection. It is fantastic for our hard work to be recognised by our external inspectors.

“Taken with the recent news that for the third year in a row Nottingham High School has been named as the top independent school in the East Midlands by the Sunday Times Parent Power supplement, it shows that the School is thriving at present with so much to celebrate.

"I am very proud of our pupils and staff alike for this outstanding inspection report and for all the success that the school is currently achieving.”
