London Grammar have secured their second number one album with Californian Soil.
The record earned more than 31,000 chart sales, according to the Official Charts Company, outperforming the rest of the top five combined.
Californian Soil, which explores themes of feminism and fame, also becomes the fastest-selling album of the year so far by a British act.
It follows in the footsteps of 2017’s chart-topping Truth Is A Beautiful Thing, while London Grammar’s debut, If You Wait, reached number two in 2013.
The Nottingham-formed trio – Hannah Reid, Dan Rothman and Dominic “Dot” Major – said: “We are so thrilled that our album has gone to number one. Thank you so much to our amazing fans for all your support over the last ten years, it means so much to us. Thank you.”
Number two went to Brit Award-nominated grime star AJ Tracey with his second studio album Flu Game, claiming the UK’s most-streamed album of the week.
US rockers The Offspring completed the all-new top three with Let The Bad Times Roll, their highest charting album to date in the UK.
Dua Lipa was at number four with Future Nostalgia and Justin Bieber at number five with Justice.
Singer-songwriter Imelda May secured number six with her sixth album 11 Past The Hour, but went to number one in her native Ireland for the fourth time.
On the singles chart, Lil Nas X scored a fourth week at number one with Montero (Call Me By your Name).
