Nottingham Forest youngster announces he has signed professional deal

Teenager Jayden Richardson has announced he has signed a professional deal with Nottingham Forest.

The young defender has been a regular for the Reds’ Under-23s, putting in some impressive performances, and it appears he has been rewarded for his efforts.

The 19-year-old posted a picture of himself on Twitter holding up a Forest shirt and wrote: “Happy to have signed my first professional deal with @NFFC”

All I've ever wanted to do was play for Nottingham Forest - Reds ace Ryan Yates

Richardson has played a key part this season for Jimmy Gilligan’s side, helping them to reach the quarter-finals of the Premier League Cup, where they were knocked out on penalties by Swansea City last week.

Forest first-team manager Martin O’Neill and his coaching staff have regularly watched Under-23s games since they took charge at the City Ground back in January, giving them an opportunity to have cast an eye over Richardson and his teammates.

O’Neill has shown he is prepared to give young players a chance in the senior side, handing All I've ever wanted to do was play for Nottingham Forest - Reds ace Ryan Yates his first Championship start.

The Reds have a number of promising players coming through the Nigel Doughty Academy as they look to continue a tradition of bringing youngsters up through the ranks.

The Under-23s are in action again tomorrow, when they host Burnley in the Professional Development League.
