Nottingham Forest youngster addresses his future after series of impressive performances

Nottingham Forest youngster Jake Taylor is not thinking about his future beyond January after a series of impressive performances for Port Vale.

The 21-year-old is on loan at the League Two club until the new year and manager John Askey is keen to extend the deal, but he knows other clubs will take note of Taylor's form.

The versatile midfielder has scored five goals and provided one assist in 17 appearances in all competitions.

Taylor, a regular in the Reds Under-23s' before his loan, will have seen Ryan Yates and Jorge Grant excel on loan in the fourth tier before moving to League One sides on loan, with Yates then graduating to the first team, while Grant is a regular at Lincoln City after a summer move.

Taylor told Stoke-on-Trent Live he is not thinking about his long-term future.

"First and foremost I am just focusing on playing for the Vale at the minute," he said after a 2-1 defeat to Scunthorpe United.

"I am enjoying playing my football. I know it's a cliche that whatever happens, happens, but at the moment I am really enjoying my time at Vale and hopefully it continues.

"The Vale fans have been brilliant since I walked through the door. They came out in their numbers again for another away day, we are just disappointed we couldn't give them the three points to go with it."

Taylor is the club's joint top scorer with strikers Richie Bennett and Mark Cullen. He's enjoying his attacking midfield role in John Askey's 4-3-3 system.

He added: "I think the gaffer has given me a lot of freedom to go and play my game and get forward. I know I have my defensive duties as well but I think the role I am playing in the team allows me to get into the box and I am enjoying it."
