Nottingham Forest winger has his say on crunch January transfer decision

On-loan winger Anthony Knockaert says he is keen to extend his stay at Nottingham Forest.

The 29-year-old’s loan deal from Fulham is due to expire on January 7, making Saturday’s trip to Preston North End potentially his last game in the Garibaldi.

The Reds do have an option to buy, while there is also the possibility of trying to negotiate keeping him on loan until the summer.

Garry Birtles and Gregor Robertson debate how Nottingham Forest have been run

Forest boss Chris Hughton has said a decision is yet to be made about Knockaert’s future, and the man himself says he is unsure what will happen.

But if there is the chance to remain Trentside, the former France Under-21 international says he would be happy to do so.

“I think the last game is Saturday,” Knockaert said, after Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw at Stoke City.

“I don’t know what will happen. I will have to speak with both clubs - with Forest and Fulham - and see what they say.

“I actually don’t know what’s going to happen, right now I couldn’t tell you.

“I feel really good here and if I can stay until the end of the season, I will do.

“I’ve got people working for me at the moment, and the clubs will tell me what’s best for me to do.

“I don’t know what will happen, we will wait to see.”

Knockaert has made 15 appearances for the Reds since signing on domestic deadline day, with his only goal coming in the 2-1 defeat at Norwich City.
