Nottingham Forest will 'have option to buy' Benfica ace as loan deal moves closer

Nottingham Forest are expected to tie up a loan deal for Benfica midfielder David Tavares - and the Reds will have the option to make it a permanent move, according to a report.

The Daily Mail claim that Tavares is set to join the Reds in what would be a considerable coup for boss Sabri Lamouchi ahead of the Championship season.

And it is claimed that if Tavares is a roaring success on Trentside, the Reds will be given the chance to buy the highly-rated attacker.

Speculation over his future intensified over the weekend after Tavares was left out of Benfica's friendly against Bournemouth indicating that a move is close.

And according to Record PT, Forest have had a long-standing interest in the midfielder who is reportedly not in the plans of boss Jorge Jesus at the Stadium of Light.

And that has paved the way for a switch to Nottingham to follow in the footsteps of Yuri Ribeiro and Joao Carvalho, among others with Forest sharing a good relationship with the Portuguese giants.

Last summer, the youngster impressed in a pre-Champions League final friendly with Liverpool, which led to speculation about a possible move to Anfield.

It was said boss Jurgen Klopp was impressed by his physicality and aggression along with his strength in a tackle.
