Nottingham Forest 'want to push forward' in pursuit of Premier League striker

Nottingham Forest “want to push forward” in their pursuit of striker Glenn Murray.

The Brighton &Hove Albion front man is understood to be on the Reds’ shortlist of targets as boss Sabri Lamouchi looks to bolster his attacking options to aid a promotion push.

A number of clubs are said to be interested in the 36-year-old, who made his 15th appearance of the season on Saturday when he came off the bench in a 1-0 defeat at Everton.

It is said the Seagulls will allow him to leave on a free transfer this month, should a Championship side look to sign him, but would want £500,000 from any top-flight sides.

According to The Telegraph, Brighton are yet to receive any offers, but they say: “Nottingham Forest want to push forward with their attempt to land Glenn Murray this week, as the striker enters the final six months of his contract.”

The report adds: “Brighton are braced for approaches this month and will weigh up whether to let Murray go or keep him.”

Albion manager Graham Potter has previously dismissed speculation linking Murray with a move to the City Ground and said he would like to hang on to the forward, though would leave it up to the player to make the final decision on his future.

Murray last started a Premier League game in September, with 10 of his appearances coming as a substitute this term.
