Nottingham Forest vs Huddersfield Town player ratings - Anthony Knockaert poor, James Garner has rare bad day

Nottingham Forest paid the price for not making the most of their dominance early on, as they were beaten 2-0 by Huddersfield Town.

Chris Hughton’s side saw plenty of the ball in the opening stages and created some decent chances, but failed to make the most of them.

And they were punished for it as Aaron Rowe and Juninho Bacuna clinched three points for the Terriers.

Here’s how Reds reporter Sarah Clapson rated the Forest players at the City Ground.

Brice Samba: Made a couple of big saves in the first half to deny Aaron Rowe and Duane Holmes. Caught out by a poor pass and a thunderous strike in the end - though perhaps will feel he could have done better with the second. Rating: 5/10

Cyrus Christie: Got forward well when the Reds were on top, but couldn’t find the telling pass to force an opening. Generally defended well enough. Rating: 6/10

Joe Worrall: Took matters into his own hands when he burst forward to try to force a breakthrough before the interval. A disappointing afternoon saw him boot the ball into the stands in frustration after the second goal. Rating: 6/10

Scott McKenna: Wasn’t too far away from pulling one back for the Reds with a header 15 minutes from time. Like his centre-back partner, was left cursing the Terriers’ second, collapsing to the floor with his head in his hands. Rating: 6/10

Tyler Blackett: Made some important interceptions as the back line generally didn’t do too badly, despite the final scoreline. Rating: 6/10

James Garner: He is human after all. Has barely put a foot wrong during what has been a superb loan spell. But a rare mistake proved costly on this occasion, with a stray pass leading to the opener. Rating: 5/10

Ryan Yates: Not his best game on what was a pretty forgettable afternoon all round for the hosts. Allowed Huddersfield to get a grip on the midfield as the match went on. Rating: 5/10

Alex Mighten: Forest needed to get him on the ball more often, because when he did, he was capable of twisting Pipa inside out. Rating: 6/10

Filip Krovinovic: If only he’d brought his shooting boots. Could have had a 10-minute hat-trick in a dominant opening spell. Dropped out of the game after that, though. Rating: 5/10

Anthony Knockaert: Kept his place in the starting XI, but really struggled to make the most of the opportunity. Couldn’t stamp his influence on the game and frustration began to creep in. Rating: 4/10

Lewis Grabban: Supply line was almost non-existent at times. After a positive start, the Reds faded and the front man was left far too isolated - not for the first time this season. Rating: 4/10

Subs
Cafu (for Yates, 63): A tough match to come into. Game already looked over by that point and the Reds lacked intensity. Rating: 5/10

Lyle Taylor (for Krovinovic, 63): Came on with Forest 2-0 down. The hosts never really looked like coming back into it. Rating: 5/10

Luke Freeman (for Knockaert, 80): Difficult to make an impact as the game had petered out by the time he came on. Rating: 5/10

Glenn Murray (for Grabban, 81): Not too far away with a shot on the turn in the final minutes. Rating: 5/10

Subs not used: Smith, Ribeiro, Mbe Soh, Colback, Jenkinson.
