Nottingham Forest vs Charlton - Advice to drivers travelling to the City Ground during A52 closure

Supporters are being urged to allow time for their journey to the City Ground for Nottingham Forest's match against Charlton Athletic.

Forest have advised supporters of both clubs to allow extra time for their journey to Trentside, due to the closure of the A52 at Clifton Bridge - which is now into its sixth day.

Highways England discovered on Thursday, February 6 that water damage had corroded steel works underneath the bridge and closed the A52 eastbound for safety reasons.

On Monday, February 10, engineers have said the structure remains safe, and Highways England is aiming to reopen one lane in the eastbound direction "this week".

The club has said it's expecting its largest midweek attendance of the season with only a handful of tickets remaining for the game which kicks off at 7.45pm on Tuesday night.

Supporters are also being urged to use public transport wherever possible.

Steps being taken to ensure buses and trams public transport can keep moving during rush hour include closing the right turn from Sheriffs Way into Crocus Street, near to Nottingham Railway Station, except for buses.

Motorists will need to stay on the Southern Relief Route/London Road.

A restriction on through traffic entering Meadows Way West is being trialLed from the junction of Queens Drive/Robin Hood Way except for buses, trams and access for local residents.

Nottingham Forest tweeted on Monday afternoon: "Major road congestion in and around Nottingham. Supporters should allow extra time on their journey to the City Ground for tomorrow night's game because of the continued closure to the A52."
