Nottingham Forest are said to be in “pole position” to sign free agent winger Albert Adomah.
The Reds were reported to have declared a verbal interest in the 31-year-old last month, after he left Aston Villa at the end of his contract.
And the website TEAMtalk claim Forest are now “close to winning the race” for his signature.
It is claimed a number of clubs have shown an interest in Adomah, with Championship rivals West Bromwich Albion also apparently very keen, while his former team Bristol City and Millwall have also been linked.
But the report states: “Forest are now in pole position to seal his signature as they look to try and wrap up a deal in the next 24 hours.”
The initial speculation surrounding the Ghana international coming to the City Ground came while Martin O’Neill was still at the helm.
However, it is said the sacking of O’Neill and the subsequent appointment of Sabri Lamouchi has not altered the Reds’ thinking when it comes to their pursuit of Adomah.
The Ghana international was part of the Villa squad which secured promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs last season, but he was told he would not be offered fresh terms in the West Midlands.
Forest have so far, in Sammy Ameobi, Tiago Silva, Alfa Semedo, Yuri Ribeiro and Arijanet Muric.
