Nottingham Forest transfers: Sabri Lamouchi reveals January plans

Head coach Sabri Lamouchi is confident just two or three January additions could make the difference in Nottingham Forest’s promotion push.

The Reds boss will look to supplement his squad when the window opens later this week, and bolstering his forward options will be a priority.

But a repeat of the summer recruitment, which saw 12 arrivals come through the doors, is unlikely, with Lamouchi not expecting to make a huge number of signings.

It is in attack where Forest are most in need of strengthening.

Lewis Grabban has plundered 12 goals in 24 appearances so far this term. But with Joe Lolley the team’s next highest scorer in the league, with three goals, more support is needed for the 31-year-old - particularly if Rafa Mir’s loan spell from Wolverhampton Wanderers is ended early.

A striker shortlist includes and Lamouchi says the club are well aware of the areas he would like to address.

“Yes, I have known a long time where I would like to strengthen,” he said.

“I don’t think we need many more players.

“If we find two players - maybe three, maximum - that’s fantastic. Three players can make the difference and help the team to play much better and achieve our goals.”

Lamouchi’s side are back in the Championship play-off places, following successive wins over Hull City and Wigan Athletic during the festive period.

Ahead of welcoming Blackburn Rovers to the City Ground on New Year’s Day, they sit fifth in the standings, two points adrift of third-placed Fulham with a game in hand.

They will look to put their five-match winless run of earlier in December firmly behind them when they take on Tony Mowbray’s men.

But Lamouchi admits he is unsure whether new faces will be added quickly to the dressing room, or if it may take some time to secure the right players.

“The club know exactly what we need,” said the Frenchman.

“The club are working hard to find the right players and to find the key players who can help the team.

“Only the club can say if it will happen quickly or not.”
