Nottingham Forest transfers: Rangers goalkeeper link emerges as Reds 'bid' for midfielder

Here’s a round-up of the latest Nottingham Forest transfer news and views as the new season edges closer…

A potential goalkeeping addition

Forest are reportedly closing in on former Rangers goalkeeper Nicky Hogarth, following the expiration of his contract at Ibrox.

The Daily Record claim the 20-year-old is close to agreeing a two-year deal with Forest, and he’s set to join up with the under-23 squad as preparations for the upcoming season get underway.

Hogarth spent the 2020/21 season on loan with Cowdenbeath in Scotland’s fourth tier and made ten league appearances for the club.

Forest 'bid' for Dutch midfielder

Chris Houghton is looking to add quality to Forest’s squad this summer, and he’s reportedly keen on signing Fortuna Sittard midfielder Zian Flemming.

The 22-year-old scored an impressive 12 goals and registered seven assists in the Eredivisie last season, and his impressive form has reportedly caught the eye of Forest.

Reports in the Netherlands from Dutch outlet Veronica Inside claim a bid has ‘already’ been made by the Reds in a push to secure his services.

Forest’s stance on defender clear

There’s plenty of interest in Reds defender Jordan Gabriel, but Forest have no desire to sell the 22-year-old full-back.

Gabriel spent the 2020/21 season on loan at Blackpool, and an impressive spell has earned him plenty of admirers.

As rivals circle, with Huddersfield Town the latest club to show interest, he’s set to be given a chance to impress at Forest for the upcoming season.

Forest target joins Italian club

Sydney van Hooijdonk, son of former Forest striker Pierre van Hooijdonk, was previously linked with a move to England, but instead, has joined Italian outfit Bologna FC.

The 21-year-old was available for free following the expiration of his contract at NAC Breda, but it was confirmed over the weekend that he’d signed a four-year contract in Italy.
