Nottingham Forest transfers: City Ground flop linked with Real Madrid

Former Nottingham Forest loan flop Rafa Mir could be set for a sensational move to Real Madrid.

The Wolves striker is currently causing a ripple on loan at SD Huesca.

He joined the Spanish club in January, scoring nine goals in 18 La Liga 2 appearances as the club earned promotion to the top tier of Spanish football.

The forward has since rejoined the club on another loan deal and has so far scored twice and assisted once in his eight La Liga games for the club.

It has led to the eye-brow raising suggestions in the Spanish press that the striker who failed to ignite at the City Ground, could get a chance to light up the Bernabeu Stadium with Madrid still keeping track of his form.

Mir was a flop at Forest with zero goals in 11 games.

The Spanish giants tried on four occasions to sign striker Mir, before he completed his move to Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to reports in Spain.

The 23-year-old arrived at Molineux in January 2018 but has made just four first-team appearances for Wolves during his time at the club, failing to find the net in any of the games.

He has spent time on loan at Las Palmas and Forest, and, most recently, SD Huesca.

Real Madrid were said to be interested in signing the player before Wolves made their move, with some reports suggesting that the Spanish club offered a similar figure to the €2 million that Wolves paid for the youngster.

According to AS , Los Blancos made four approaches to Valencia for the striker but saw their move rejected every time.

It is also reported that the Spanish club had agreed personal terms with the player who was ready to move to the Bernabeu.

It is also suggested that the player would still be open to the move should Real Madrid reignite their interest in the future.

Wolves beat off the interest from Real Madrid after Mir caught the eye by scoring 15 goals in 19 games for Valencia Mestalla in the third division of Spanish football
