Nottingham Forest transfer update could affect Steve Cooper's January window plans

Manchester United reportedly inserted a break clause in James Garner's loan deal this summer.

The on-loan Nottingham Forest midfielder could return to his parent club in January if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decides that is the right move, according to The Sun.

Garner was the subject of interest from a number of Championship clubs, including Derby County, over the summer but Forest won the race for his signature.

He impressed at the City Ground during the second half of last season and looks set to be a big part of head coach Steve Cooper 's plans moving forward.

The 20-year-old decided to come back to the City Ground for another season as he continues his development.

A lot may depend on Forest's position in the league table and the whether the style of football Cooper has promised is paying dividends.

If Garner continues to produce the form he showed last season, United may decide to recall him and sent him out to another club - perhaps in the lower half of the Premier League or somewhere abroad.

However, if his form dips, he could also get called back as Solskjaer and his team re-assess his future.
