Dan Gosling has completed a move to Watford from Bournemouth days after reportedly rejecting a switch to Nottingham Forest.
Gosling, who turns 31 tomorrow, has signed a two-and-a-half year deal with the Hornets.
Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake said: “Dan has been an outstanding servant to the club over the past six-and-a-half years.
“He played an important role in helping this club reach the Premier League and then establishing us there for five seasons, scoring some crucial goals along the way.
“Dan is a model professional; someone his team-mates admire and younger players look up to.
“We can no longer guarantee him the regular game time he wants at this stage of his career, and he leaves AFC Bournemouth with everyone’s thanks and best wishes for the next step.”
Forest reportedly had a bid for the former Everton man accepted, but Gosling rejected a switch to the City Ground.
The Reds have since brought Manchester United midfielder James Garner in on loan for the rest of the season. Gosling effectively replaces Garner in the Watford squad, after Garner spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Vicarage Road.
Further changes to the Forest midfield could be possible with both Harry Arter and Samba Sow linked with moves away in the last few days.
The transfer deadline closes at 11am on Monday night.
