Nottingham Forest transfer 'target' set to undergo overseas medical today

Nottingham Forest transfer target Jonathan Kodjia will undergo his medical assessment with Qatari side Al Gharafa today, the Daily Star have revealed.

The Ivory Coast international was linked with a move to the City Ground with boss Sabri Lamouchi keen to sign a striker before the end of the January transfer window.

But once again the Reds have seemingly fallen short, with Kodja now in the Middle East ahead of his medical.

As speculation grew about his imminent departure from the Villa Park, Villans boss Dean Smith confirmed that the frontman would be able to leave the club this month if a suitable offer was forthcoming, though at that stage, he did suggest there was nothing imminent.

“No. Everyone knows Jonathan's out of contract at the end of the season,” he said.

“At his age, he's allowed to talk to clubs at the moment.

“He hasn't trained with us this week and won't be involved on Saturday."

Lamouchi and his recruitment staff will now consider their options as the hunt for a striker continues.
