Nottingham Forest target Nicholas Ioannou wants to joins Arminia Bielefeld, according to reports in Germany.
The Reds have been strongly linked with a move for the Apoel Nicosia left-back for some time while Italian side Brescia are also thought to be keen on the Cyprus international.
However, Bild are claiming Bielefeld have suddenly jumped to the front of the queue in the race to sign the former Manchester United youngster.
The German tabloid say the player has “already chosen” to join the Bundesliga 2 outfit, who have turned their attention to Ioannou after having a bid for SC Paderborn defender Sebastian Vasiliadis rejected.
The Bild report says a transfer fee between Bielefeld and Apoel is still to be agreed, with Ioannou valued at around 800,000 euros.
Ioannou came through the ranks at Old Trafford, having been spotted at a football camp in Cyprus and played alongside the likes of Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay, going on to become the reserve team captain.
He left United when David Moyes was appointed Alex Ferguson's successor, owing to a hip problem which played a big part in him not securing a professional contract with the Red Devils.
