Nottingham Forest transfer news: Transfer blow feared as new signing option revealed

Hello and welcome to our Nottingham Forest transfer round-up on Wednesday, November 10.

Steve Cooper and co will be looking to make additions to his squad during the January transfer window after taking charge at the City Ground in September.

A host of players joined the Reds while Chris Hughton was still in charge and we take a look at the latest news regarding the potential incomings and outgoings under the Welshman.

Here's a transfer round-up of the stories coming out of the City Ground...

Djed Spence transfer feared

New Middlesbrough boss Chris Wilder gave little away when asked if he would recall Djed Spence from his loan at Nottingham Forest.

Spence has shone since joining Forest on a season-long loan at the end of the last transfer window after failing to impress Neil Warnock sufficiently.

That looks a ridiculous stance now considering the degree to which Spence has stood out at the City Ground.Warnock was dismissed by Boro on Saturday after their 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion, which could spell trouble for Forest, according to reports.

Nottingham Forest are said to be keeping tabs on teenage Mansfield Town goalkeeper Owen Mason ahead of the January transfer window.

The 17-year-old put pen to paper for the Stags in the summer of 2020, and is in his second year with their Under-18s side - although he has already been involved with the senior squad.

Previously with Notts County, Eastwood CFC and Nottingham City Boys, he has also represented the Republic of Ireland at Under-18 level.

Lowe deal?

Forest could potentially solve a problem by doing their best to buy Sheffield United loanee Max Lowe.

Left-back has long been a source of headaches on the banks of the Trent. They’ve currently got a very good one on the books in Lowe, but, again, he is not the Reds’ player.

Like Spence, the 24-year-old has fitted in really well. The pair of them are integral to Cooper’s 3-4-3 system, in their wing-back roles.

Reunion on the cards?

Cooper has been linked with a reunion with 21-year-old striker Rhian Brewster, who flourished under his guidance on loan at Swansea City.

Brewster seems to have found it tough since his big-money move to the Blades from Liverpool in October 2020, often having to try to make an impact from the bench.

Eighteen of his 35 league appearances for United have come as a substitute, while he netted his first league goal for the club in Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Blackburn Rovers.
