Nottingham Forest transfer news: Premier League boss comments on striker rumours

Brighton boss Graham Potter has dismissed speculation linking forward Glenn Murray with a move to Nottingham Forest.

The Reds are understood to have placed the 36-year-old on a shortlist of striker targets as boss Sabri Lamouchi looks to boost his attacking options in the January transfer window.

Murray is said to be happy with the Seagulls, although eager for more playing time.

Ten of his 14 appearances for the Premier League side so far this season have come from off the bench, while his only goal came back in August in the Carabao Cup.

And in response to reported interest from Forest, Potter said he would like to hang on to the front man.

Addressing the rumours, he told Sky Sports: “It’s news to me, I’ve not heard anything and Glenn has been great for us.

“At the same time, every player wants to be out on the pitch but I have no problem with him.”

Potter has previously said he will leave it up to Murray to have the final say on his future.

“He is a really important member of the group,” he told The Argus.

“At the same time, I respect his career. I respect where he is at and what he has done for this club.

“Ultimately, Glenn decides really in that respect, but hopefully he wants to stay here and be a part of what we are doing. He has been great for us.”
