Nottingham Forest transfer link with forward dubbed 'next Wilfried Zaha' reemerges

Nottingham Forest have again been linked with Peterborough United forward Siriki Dembele.

The Reds were said to have been interested in the 24-year-old in the summer, along with West Bromwich Albion, Sheffield United, Crystal Palace, Fulham and Brentford.

And now it is reported they are eyeing up Dembele again, ahead of the January transfer window.

The Guardian claim Posh “face a fight” to keep the attacker, “with Palace, Fulham and Forest among those interested”.

Celtic, Newcastle United, Derby County, QPR and Wolverhampton Wanderers have also been linked.

Dubbed “the next Wilfried Zaha”, Dembele has netted six goals in 20 appearances so far this season, including bagging a hat-trick in a 5-1 thumping of Shrewsbury Town.

He was born in the Ivory Coast, before moving to Scotland, where he began his career with Dundee United.

After his youth spell at Dundee, he moved to Ayr United and then joined the Nike Academy. He then had trials with Barnsley and Huddersfield before signing a one-year deal at Grimsby Town.

Following a year with the Mariners, he headed for Peterborough in 2018.

Posh owner Darragh MacAnthony recently told The Hard Truth podcast: “We’ve already identified his replacement should he leave us for £15 million or whatever.

“The penny dropped with Siriki last season when he realised he couldn’t be pigeon-holed as a winger. The biggest clubs don’t play with wingers and since he became more flexible he’s been top class.”
