Nottingham Forest transfer decision 'expected' as boss discusses out of favour duo

Grosicki latest

Nottingham Forest could have to wait until Thursday to find out whether Kamil Grosicki is their player, following an arbitration hearing.

A deal was agreed for the West Bromwich Albion winger to join the Reds on domestic deadline day, on October 16.

However, a dispute about whether the paperwork was submitted in time has left Grosicki’s move in the balance.

According to the Telegraph, a hearing was held today, with a “decision expected by Thursday morning”.

Rare run-out

Nottingham Forest boss Chris Hughton says a run-out for the Under-23s was a chance for him to assess Cafu and Gaetan Bong - as well as for the first-team duo to get valuable game time.

The pair have not featured for the Reds this season but played the full 90 minutes as the Reds’ youth side beat Charlton Athletic 4-3 on Tuesday, with Cafu among the scorers.

The midfielder made the move to the City Ground on international deadline day, on a season-long loan from fellow Evangelos Marinakis-owned side Olympiacos, though has yet to be included in a matchday squad.

Bong’s sole appearance in the Garibaldi came last term, following his January move from Brighton and Hove Albion - a club where he has previously worked with Hughton.

Chris Cohen on his decision to leave Nottingham Forest to join the Luton Town first team coaching setup

Injury latest

Nottingham Forest will be without Lewis Grabban for their trip to face Luton Town on Wednesday night, because of injury.

But boss Chris Hughton is pleased to see the striker remain with the Reds, following speculation about his future at the weekend.

Former Forest head coach Sabri Lamouchi wanted to link up with Grabban again, having taken charge at Qatari side Al Duhail.

The front man was understood to be keen on the move initially, but agreed to stay at the City Ground following talks with the club.

Cohen reflects

Chris Cohen's first experience as a Nottingham Forest player might have been an awkward one, but he would become one of the club's most loved players - although he would probably disagree with that.

Cohen joined the Reds in a double deal with Arron Davies in the summer of 2007, fresh from having helped inflict perhaps the most embarrassing defeat in the club's history, when Yeovil knocked Forest out of the League One play-offs after a 5-2 win at the City Ground.

Leicester City wanted to sign them, but Forest won the race, so the pair linked up with their new teammates ahead of what would be Cohen's first and most successful season at the club.

"Leicester were really, really keen. Forest came good and it was the right decision," Cohen told the Garibaldi Red podcast.
