Nottingham Forest told it will take a 'monumental bid' to sign Coventry City defender

Nottingham Forest have been linked with a move for Coventry City left-back Sam McCallum - but the Sky Blues are in no mood to sell.

Aston Villa, West Brom, Leeds United and Huddersfield have also been linked with the 19-year-old left back.

However, Coventry boss Mark Robins says it would take a 'monumental bid' from the Reds, or anyone else, for the League One side to cash in.

“There’s no interest or appetite to sell and I wouldn’t think it would be beneficial for him to go anywhere at this stage," he told Coventry Live.

“He’s not at the stage where he’s going to be a regular every week but the possibility is that he will be.

“You know what I think of him and what we think about him here, and for us to let him go it would take a monumental bid from anyone.

“And I think if anyone is going to take him it’s going to have to be a top Premier League team.”

“I have got players for that position who are players who are going to push him. At the end of the day they have to keep doing it and keep producing, and it’s going to be interesting to see how they handle it mentally, not just Sam.”

McCallum joined Coventry two years ago from non-league outfit Hearne Bay, making seven League One appearances last season.

He has already played seven times this season and is contracted to the club until 2022.
