Nottingham Forest to rival Watford in loan deal for Premier League winger - Report

Nottingham Forest are providing competition to Watford in their attempts of signing Newcastle United winger Christian Atsu this summer, according to reports.

The 28-year-old is yet to make an appearance in the Premier League so far this season and looks set to seal a temporary deal away from St James’ Park this summer.

Watford are said to be leading the chase for the Ghanaian, but according to various reports, in both the Mirror and the Northern Echo , Forest have ‘expressed an interest’ in signing the winger and are ready to rival the Hornets for the signing.

It is claimed that Vicarage Road is still Atsu’s most likely destination at the end of the transfer window.

He has played a total of 121 times for Newcastle, scoring eight goals and providing a further 10 assists. The winger has also played for Bournemouth and Everton in the Premier League.

Atsu arrived at St James’ Park from Chelsea in the summer of 2017, having failed to make a first-team appearance for the Blues.

Forest are on the lookout for creativity in the final days of the transfer window, with the Reds scoring just one goal in their opening five games in all competitions so far this season.
