Nottingham Forest to miss out on Peterborough's Ivan Toney as rivals win battle

Nottingham Forest look set to miss out on signing Peterborough United's in-demand forward Ivan Toney after Brentford closed in on a deal for the exciting forward.

A reporter for the Sun claims that the Bees are about to seal a £4m move for the forward which could rise to £9m in bonus-related add-ons.

Forest, Celtic, Rangers and Brighton have all been linked with the Posh hotshot who is considered one of League One's hottest properties.

The interest in the 24-year-old has been split evenly between the top two tiers, while there is also interest from abroad.

And reporter Jordan Davies Tweeted: "Understand Ivan Toney is on the verge of completing a move to Brentford. "Four million up front, could rise to £9m in bonus-related add-ons.

"Four-year deal. Around £25k-a-week deal. Medical soon."

Forest are in the hunt to bolster their attacking options and had been linked with Toney who scored 26 goals last season.

They have been linked with numerous forwards so far as boss Sabri Lamouchi looks to add support to Lewis Grabban and are one of 10 clubs chasing former Charlton forward Lyle Taylor who is a free agent.

FC Koln striker Simon Terodde has also been tipped to make a switch to the City Ground this summer.
