Nottingham Forest to bolster squad with new signing as Reds forward linked with exit

Incoming expected

Nottingham Forest are expected to complete the signing of Malmo midfielder Fouad Bachirou later this week.

The 30-year-old will become the Reds’ fourth new addition of the summer, should he successfully pass a medical.

Bachirou was at French giants PSG’s academy as a youngster, before going on to join Greenock Morton.

He made more than 130 appearances for the Scottish side in a four-year spell from 2010 to 2014 and is said to have become something of a fans’ favourite during his time at the club.

New deal

Highly-rated teenager Alex Mighten has signed a new long-term contract at Nottingham Forest.

The youngster, who was handed his debut for the club by head coach Sabri Lamouchi last season, has put pen to paper on fresh terms which will keep him at the City Ground until 2025.

A Reds fan who has been at the club since the age of eight, the 18-year-old made his first senior appearance for the club last September when he came off the bench in the Carabao Cup defeat to Arsenal.

Mighten then made his first start in the Garibaldi in January, playing the full 90 minutes and catching the eye with an impressive performance as Lamouchi's men were knocked out of the FA Cup by Chelsea.

On the move?

Nottingham Forest forward Zach Clough has been linked with a move to Greece, having been frozen out of the picture at the City Ground.

The 25-year-old has not pulled on the Garibaldi since January 2018, and has not been part of Sabri Lamouchi’s plans since the Frenchman took charge more than 12 months ago.

It was expected Clough would head elsewhere this summer, if he was able to secure a move, in a bid to revive his career.

And Greek journalist Antonis Oikonomidis has said on Twitter the Reds attacker could be headed to Atromitos.

Transfer stance

Benfica winger Jota is not a target for Nottingham Forest, NottinghamshireLive understands.

The 21 year-old has been heavily linked with a move the Reds this summer.

Jota, who has been on the books at Benfica since 2007, is reportedly nearing an exit from the Estadio da Luz.

It was reported yesterday in the Portuguese press that Jota has fallen down the pecking order at Benfica, with Jorge Jesus looking to offload players he believes are surplus to requirements at the club.
