Nottingham Forest to assess season card situation after show of 'incredible support'

Nottingham Forest have sold out their 20,000 allocation of season cards for the upcoming campaign.

But the club say they will “assess whether it is feasible to make additional seats available” for fans who still want to purchase one.

The Reds had initially planned to cap season card sales for 2019/20 at 20,000 ahead of the redevelopment of the City Ground.

Work on the project is expected to begin next summer and will involve the stadium’s capacity being reduced on a temporary basis while it is increased to 38,000.

Announcing the 20,000 landmark had been reached, the club said: “The original cap of 20,000 was imposed because of the prospective difficulties regarding ticket availability for the 2020-21 season due to the redevelopment of the City Ground.

“Although no seats can be guaranteed, the club was confident that it would be able to renew at (the) 20,000 figure.

“Reds fans have once again shown their incredible support by snapping up all the available season cards, and the club will now enter an evaluation period to assess whether it is feasible to make additional seats available for supporters wanting to purchase a season card for the 2019-20 campaign.

“Accordingly a waiting list will be made available for supporters to register their interest and reserve a seat should one become available.”

Season cards for the upcoming campaign – which will see new head coach Sabri Lamouchi at the helm - went on sale in March, with people queueing outside the ticket office as more than 1,000 were snapped up within the first hour.

That blew the previous record for opening day sales out of the water. By the end of the first day, the tally stood at just over 4,000 – a club record.
