Nottingham Forest, the Kamil Grosicki transfer saga and a fresh twist

Nottingham Forest look set to face competition for Kamil Grosicki if they rekindle their interest in the Poland international in the January transfer window.

The Reds had agreed terms with the West Bromwich Albion winger on domestic deadline day last month, but there was a dispute about whether paperwork was submitted in time.

The English Football League argued the club had missed the cut-off point, and an arbitration hearing ruled against Forest in their bid to challenge that decision.

Forest boss Chris Hughton said it was “hugely disappointing” to miss out on signing Grosicki.

And asked if the Reds may look to try again to sign Grosicki in January, Hughton added: “In every window, every manager and every team will look at the options they’ve got - players you can bring in and players who haven’t played so much.

“That’s the opportunity for every club."

Forest's Championship rivals Middlesbrough have now been linked with a January move for Grosicki, with Boro boss Neil Warnock said to be "assessing" a possible deal.
