Nottingham Forest team news as Chris Hughton names his XI to face Stoke City

Nottingham Forest boss Chris Hughton made three changes to his starting XI as he named his team to face Stoke City.

Yuri Ribeiro, Cafu and Lewis Grabban all came into the side for the clash at the City Ground, with Tyler Blackett, Alex Mighten and Lyle Taylor dropping to the bench.

The Reds went into the game looking to get back to winning ways after drawing 1-1 at Birmingham City on Wednesday night.

Grabban netted the equaliser at St Andrew’s, when he came off the bench to bag a penalty deep into stoppage time.

And he was back in the line-up to face the Potters in Forest’s penultimate home match of the season.

Ribeiro replaced Blackett at left-back, set to take his place in the defence, alongside Cyrus Christie on the right and the centre-back partnership of Joe Worrall and Scott McKenna, ahead of goalkeeper Brice Samba.

Ryan Yates and James Garner were set to once again take up the holding roles in midfield.

And that means a more advanced role for Cafu, joining Luke Freeman and Filip Krovinovic in an attacking three supporting lone striker Grabban.

Krovinovic has tended to play in the number 10 role for the Reds, but looked likely to move out to the flank to accommodate Cafu.

In addition to Blackett, Mighten and Taylor, named on the bench were Jordan Smith, Loic Mbe Soh, Jack Colback, Carl Jenkinson, Glenn Murray and Anthony Knockaert.

Ahead of kick-off, Hughton’s team sit 18th in the table, 11 points clear of the bottom three with three matches remaining.

Forest: Samba, Christie, Worrall, McKenna, Ribeiro, Yates, Garner, Freeman, Cafu, Krovinovic, Grabban. Subs: Smith, Mbe Soh, Colback, Jenkinson, Mighten, Blackett, Murray, Knockaert, Taylor.
