Nottingham Forest target speaks out on future as clubs move to block EFL plans

Taylor talks

Charlton Athletic striker Lyle Taylor has explained the situation with his contract at The Valley.

Taylor was linked with a move to Nottingham Forest in the January transfer window, with a clutch of Championship sides also said to retain an interest in the 30-year-old.

He scored 25 goals in all competitions for Lee Bowyer's side last season as they secured promotion back to the second tier through the play-offs.

Taylor has continued his good form, averaging a goal every couple of games with 11 strikes in 22 matches this season including one against Forest in February.

Surprisingly, he is out of contract at Charlton and he has explained the reason why his deal is set to expire and the wrangles he has had with the Addicks about fresh terms.

Colback gives update

Newcastle United midfielder Jack Colback hasn't been spoken to by his club after the Premier League's decision to grant players who are out of contract the chance to secure a temporary extension to their deals.

That's according to the Sunderland Echo , who say that Colback is in Newcastle preparing for the possible return to training ahead of the resumption of the Premier League.

The coronavirus pandemic has halted the season with no football played since early March and the top flight have moved to allow clubs and players to negotiate extensions past the June 30 cut-off point with competition not expected to return for another month.

Colback, who hasn't played a single minute for the Magpies this season despite travelling from Nottingham to Newcastle daily to train, was a big hit with Forest during his 18 months on loan at the City Ground.

According to the Daily Mail, five clubs are against the season resuming and three of them are, interestingly, from Yorkshire.

The Championship has five clubs from the region, Leeds United, Sheffield Wednesday, Hull City, Huddersfield Town and Barnsley.

Forest 's season has been suspended since the middle of March because of the coronavirus pandemic.
