Nottingham Forest 'target' Scott McKenna finds big-money offers 'flattering'

Scott McKenna says he "never dreamt" he would be the subject of big-money bids.

Nottingham Forest are said to be preparing a second offer for the 22-year-old Aberdeen defender, after seeing a £3m bid rejected by the Scottish Premiership side.

The Reds' Championship rivals Queens Park Rangers are also reportedly interested in signing him, while Aberdeen are said to have turned down a previous offer of £6.5m from Aston Villa for the youngster, who is under contract at Pittodrie until 2023.

“I can’t do anything about it until Aberdeen accept an offer," said Scotland international McKenna, speaking to the Daily Record in November last year.

“I just focus on playing for Aberdeen and don’t really have anything to think about.

“The numbers they were talking about were something I never dreamt would be associated with my name.

“It is flattering but the fact the club turned down Villa’s offer meant I didn’t have a decision to make.

“I also take confidence from the fact that someone would be willing to pay that amount of money for me.

“But it’s just up to me to keep my performances up to a high standard and hopefully Aberdeen keep doing well. If the club do accept a bid that’s when it’ll be a different situation.”
